It is understood that the production of original sheet glass accounts for more than 60% of the total output of Shahe glass industry. At present, Shahe glass industry is facing problems of unqualified environmental protection and overcapacity. Therefore, Shahe City actively strives for change. During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, 202 backward glass production lines were shut down, 47.420 million weight boxes with backward glass production capacity were eliminated. During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, 57 glass enterprises, 66 production lines and 48.755 million weight boxes with output capacity were eliminated in Shahe City. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Shahe City will step by step achieve the task of eliminating backward and excess capacity, eliminating 19.19 million weight boxes in 2016, 2.6 million weight boxes in 2017 and 3.6 million weight boxes in 2019.
While eliminating backward production capacity, Shahe glass industry is actively exploring the road of industrial transformation and upgrading. Shahe Glass has established strategic cooperation with scientific research institutes such as Wuhan University of Technology, China International Building Materials Engineering Corporation and large-scale central enterprises, and has built a number of production lines with advanced technology and equipment in the country. Some production processes or technologies have reached a higher level in the country. At the same time, Shahe continues to extend, supplement and strengthen the chain, introducing the upstream and downstream enterprises of the conformity industrial chain, and forming the glass industry cluster. At present, Shahe glass industry is transforming from high energy consumption and pollution to energy saving, environmental protection, health and green development.
